Vigier Arpege & Pasion IV Bass Guitars [Winter NAMM 2008]

The French company Vigier has released the Roger Glover Signature, the VigierArpege & Pasion IV Bass Guitar, instruments which will be present at Winter NAMM. All product lines are modified versions of the current production lines and they benefit from years of experience and growth. The new VigierArpege Bass Guitar is made in dual-cut, triple-layered alder bottom with maple top and back, bolt-on neck strengthened 10/90, 2 single-coil pickups, master speed, triple and bass controls per pickups.

The other model introduced here is the Vigier Pasion IV bass guitar with an alder body with a maple top and back, a carbon-built bolt-up collar, newly crafted individual coil pickups (unlike the arpeggio with bridge and neck positions) in the bridge and middle positions.
Both models are invariants of 4 and 5 strings, have a matching headstock and have no inlays.

Description of Model

From his headquarters at Grigny, France, since 1978, Top French luthier Patrice Vigier has been making basses and guitars and has attracted a large number of fans from his bass. Second, Arpege IV is a visually impressive device with its stunning amber burst finish. Fire-maple are the front facings of the body and the headstock. Three years of drying and settling were required for this high-quality wood.

The sandwiches from above and from the back of maples have a large slice of alder that is excellent due to the transparent and clear Vigier finishes. The amberburst is fitted with a vibrant and rugged finish, making the bass look as good as it sounds. The neck is very narrow, so everyone prefers it to the width of the jazz collar, just a little more.
Looking at the papers, a 40 mm long nozzle and just 56 mm up the dusty end, seems to demonstrate this. The neck is a multi-laminate of maple and graphite that gives rigidity, resilience, and resonance to the neck. Up at the bass ‘headstock, Schaller tunes are anchored by the strings as they move through the beautifully cut Teflon nut with a very smooth response.

The parts of the bridge below the body are of the single fast release mono beams, with a gap of 19 mm. The weight is about 3.8kg and the radius of the fingerboard is 300mm or 11.81”.

Special Features

The Arpege IV on the Vigier website describes that this model features a pair of Delano “single, twin coil inline” pickups. The panning between pickups with flat EQ settings reveals a good range of tones in contrast to the neck, without unnecessary thinness from the bridge or wooliness.

The controls per pick up include bass, middle and quad, and they operate each other independently. With the use of quality materials and electronics combined with a faultless construction, the instrument has been balanced and delivers a solid bass ton straight out of the case.
There are various controls such as Volume, Medium, Bass, Treble and Balance, and the product comes with 2 years warranty and the case is very hard so to protect the instrument.
